Open yearly from the first of May through October 31st, this impressive Classical Revival home was built as the country home of Edith Wharton, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. The Mount, reminiscent of an English estate with a French courtyard and Italianate terraces, features 35 extraordinary rooms and now houses a cultural and educational center that focuses on the achievement of women and offers a lecture series in July and August. Self-guided tours are available at this National Historic Landmark.
