A mill was originally constructed on this spot in 1636, being America’s first grist mill, which operated continually until 1847, when it was destroyed by fire; the reconstructed mill still uses the original hydro technology to grind corn meal, wheat and rye, and the site also features a museum, shops, and ice cream that has gained renown.
