America's most-painted building, Motif No. 1, the dark red shack on a Bearskin Neck wharf, was given its name by French illustrator and etcher, Lester Hornby. Exhausted by the continual sketching of this structure by his students, Hornby exclaimed, "What-Motif No 1 again!"
