The staff at greater annapolis veterinary hospital is dedicated to providing you and your pet with the best care possible.

Our mission: greater annapolis veterinary hospital has been providing comprehensive quality care for pets since 1973. Through the years, we have constantly expanded and modernized our facility to reflect our commitment to providing the highest quality veterinary care possible. We are continuing this daily tradition of excellence in veterinary medicine by continuously exceeding our client's expectations.

Our hospital is one of the few veterinary hospitals in the annapolis area that is fully accredited by the american animal hospital association (aaha). In fact, only 14 percent of the small animal hospitals in the u.S. And canada have such accreditation. Aaha is a voluntary organization of veterinary hospitals that is committed to providing a high quality of veterinary care.

Member hospitals are held to a higher standard of care than the state of maryland requires. Greater annapolis veterinary hospital has been accredited by aaha since 1976. We maintain a staff of approximately seventy-five dedicated caregivers to ensure state-of-the-art professional, technical, nursing, administrative and house keeping services to benefit our patients and clients. We continuously try to live up to our motto: always exceed client expectations!

Our services

Medical services
We provide comprehensive quality services for the health of your pet.

Dentistry:
Our dental services include teeth cleaning, polishing, tooth extractions, and oral surgery. Most pets, like their owners, need periodic dental care, but usually require anesthesia for dental procedures as well as a prior blood test to ensure your pet is in good health. We have toothpaste and kits available for your pet for home care.

X-rays:
Our hospital is equipped with digital radiography, which provides high quality x-rays to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. The digital system makes it easy for us to acquire, analyze, store, retrieve, and forward diagnostic x-ray images.

Ultrasound:
We also offer ultrasound imaging technology in our practice. The ability to visualize internal organs and structures is an invaluable diagnostic tool.

Surgery:
Committed to your pet's safety, we use the most up-to-date anesthetics, equipment, and monitoring protocols available. We offer complete pre-anesthetic blood work, which enables us to evaluate your pet's general health and organ function before surgery. Special emphasis is given to preventing and monitoring pain. Our in-hospital overnight staff keep a close watch on your pet's post-surgical safety and comfort. Hospitalized dogs are exercised four times a day, as appropriate.

Laboratory:
Our busy in-house laboratory has the ability to rapidly analyze blood and other materials for multiple important factors critical to rapid diagnosis and treatment. Outside laboratories pick up specimens frequently, and we are electronically connected to our database for rapid and accurate results.

Boarding services
We offer boarding for dogs and cats by reservation. The facilities are heated and air-conditioned, and we have staff on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The animals are walked or handled periodically to ensure their comfort and physiological needs are met. Our boarding facility is able to focus on clients' animals with special needs that may require daily treatments or monitoring of an illness.

Vaccinations:
All pets are required to be current on vaccinations prior to admission to the kennel.

* dogs: rabies, distemper, and bordatella (kennel cough) vaccinations are required.
* cats: rabies, distemper (including calici virus), and feline leukemia vaccinations are required. (a negative feline leukemia test within a year may be substituted for the leukemia vaccine.)

Exams:
Our doctors are available for emergency treatment of boarders, but we ask that you please schedule a separate appointment if your pet needs to be examined for any reason prior to boarding.

Additional services:
While boarders are walked twice daily (included in the base price), we offer one or two extra walks at an additional charge. If your pet requires medication, there will be a reasonable charge. We supply pets with comfortable bedding and ask that you not bring your own.

Reservations and cancellations:
We require a credit card number to hold your pet's "room" reservation. You must notify us of a cancellation at least seventy-two hours prior to drop-off. Failure to do so will result in a two-night cancellation charge.

New boarders:
New clients and/or clients with new pets are requested to have a brief meeting with a doctor on their first trip in for boarding. This exam is a courtesy (no charge) presuming the pet is up-to-date on vaccines and does not need anything checked. If the pet does need vaccines or a medical exam, there will be a charge for an office visit as well as for subsequent services. Along with your reservation for boarding, we ask that you specify whether you need an appointment as a new client with a new pet or as an established client with a new pet.

Fees:
We believe that fees charged in our hospital are just and equitable. Your bill will be presented in an itemized form; please feel free to discuss the matter of fees at any time. We appreciate your paying for services when rendered.

Hospital charges are based on the following:

* there is an initial examination and consultation fee.
* there is a fee according to size for kennel care when an animal is hospitalized. All facilities are indoors. They are heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer.
* there is a fee for nursing, treatment, and doctor's supervision. This fee includes periodic, routine physical examinations by the doctor.
* there are customary charges rendered for medications, laboratory services, surgery, medicated baths, etc.

Payment options:

We accept payments by cash, check, and credit card (visa, mastercard, discover).

We also accept payment via carecredit, which works just like a credit card, but is exclusively for healthcare services. The carecredit program can be used for everything from routine visits to dentistry or surgery services. Learn more about the carecredit program.
