Located in the historic Pry House on the Antietam Battlefield, the Pry House Field Hospital Museum's grounds feature the Pry Barn, an overlook of the battlefield, and a 19th century-style medicinal and kitchen garden. "Considered the birthplace of military and emergency medicine," the Pry House served both as Union Commander General George B. McClellan's headquarters and as Medical Director Dr. Jonathan Letterman's headquarters during the battle. Used as a field hospital for enlisted men, the Pry Barn is open to the public with displays on field hospitals. Operated by the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.
