Named for Edwin Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War, Camp Stanton was the training facility for the 7th, 9th, 19th, and 30th Colored Infantries of the Union Army. The site is now Department of Natural Resources' Indian Creek Natural Resource Management Area.
