Founded in 1904, by Ellen and George Booth, this arts and educational community is considered one of the nation's greatest architectural complexes. The Cranbrook Academy of Art, Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook Institute of Science, and the Cranbrook House and Gardens are all ready for you to explore. The Cranbrook Institute of Science houses 11 permanent galleries, a changing exhibition hall, an outdoor science garden, nature trails, a state-of-the-art planetarium, an observatory, and a nature center. The Academy offers instruction in architecture, art, and design. The Cranbrook Art Museum is a contemporary art gallery. The centerpiece of Cranbrookâs 319-acre National Historic Landmark campus, Cranbrook House and Gardens is an English Arts and Crafts-style home, built by Detroit architect Albert Kahn in 1908, surrounded by 40 acres of gardens.
