"Founded in 1957, to collect and preserve the artifacts of the county's history and to educate the public about that history and related topics," the Ontonagon County Historical Society's museum is filled with mining, logging, farming, marine and social memorabilia. The Ontonagon County Historical Society is also restoring the Ontonagon Lighthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tours of the Lighthouse and a museum gift shop are available.
