Housed in the former Port Huron Public Library built in 1904, with funds from Pittsburgh-based steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, the Port Huron Museum was created in 1967 "in part to preserve the endangered structure, which was slated for demolition." Over 15,000 objects and archival items relating to the history, pre-history and culture of the Blue Water area can be found here. Two rotating exhibition areas, a local history gallery, an extensive musical instrument collection, the Lee M. Cooper Marine Gallery, the Frank Crevier Pilot House, a late 1850s log cabin, and more can be enjoyed. This museum also operates three other satellite museums - the Huron Lightship Museum, the Thomas Edison Depot Museum, and the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse.
