Housed in the old limestone post office built in the early 1900's, the River of History Museum on the waterfront was opened by the Sault Foundation for Culture & History in 1992, with the mission of preserving and promoting the history of the St. Mary’s River system. The River of History Museum's 11 galleries contain historical exhibits relating to the St. Mary's River's glacial origin to the Native American settlement, French fur trade, British expansion and the present day.
