In the process of being restored, this future museum was the childhood home of Maud Hart Lovelace (1892-1980), author of the famed children’s series of Betsy-Tacy books, which are historical fiction based on her childhood memories of growing up in Mankato. Located across the street from Betsy’s house, Tacy’s House is the childhood home of Maud’s best friend, Frances "Bick" Kenney. Open on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. or by appointment, Tacy's House also serves as the Betsy-Tacy Society's headquarters, gift shop and interpretive center. The homes are National Literary Landmarks.
