    One can browse through this 1870s general store, with shelves that are lined with everything from clothes and medicine bottles to spectacles; this store was forced to close in 1877 because of the grasshoppers that devastated the area's agriculture and left farmers in debt.     Erected in 1991, this monument is dedicated to all of the German Bohemian immigrants who settled in the New Ulm area; the marker is etched with three hundred fifty immigrant surnames.  map

  • Hermann Monument

    This monument, constructed in 1897, was erected in memory of an ancient Teutonic hero, Hermann of Cherusci, and has been declared a national landmark that celebrates the contributions to America by Americans of German descent.  map
