A large, circa 1799 log home built by settler Jacob Zumwalt and his extended family, which became a shelter for local families from "deadly guerilla raids with Native Americans ambushing and killing American settlers," during the War of 1812. Zumwalt's Fort was one of more than 35 “settler forts” that once stood in Missouri. The reconstructed Zumwalt's Fort is the only rebuilt War of 1812 settler fort in Missouri. Open for tours on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., from the 4th Sunday of May to the 4th Sunday of September.
