The birthplace of Mississippi's statehood in 1817, Historic Jefferson College was established in 1802, the first institution of higher learning chartered in the Mississippi Territory. The property contains several restored original buildings that were built between 1819 and 1839, including the East Wing, President's House, and the West Wing. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
