In defiance of Spain, General Andrew Ellicott raised the first American flag on this hill on February 27th, 1797. The well-maintained, West Indies-style House on Ellicott Hill is one of the earliest structures built in Natchez. The last remaining 18th century Merchants house on Canal Street, this National Historic Landmark is open daily for tours, which are held on the hour, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The last tours begins at 2:00 p.m.
