Situated on an alpine ledge overlooking Lake McDonald and the Whitefish Range on the west side of Gunsight Mountain, Sperry Chalet was built by James J. and son Louis Hill of the Great Northern Railway, the prime developer of Glacier National Park. Listed as a Historic Landmark, its remote rustic buildings are built of native rock, with is main building consisting of a two-story hotel building and a kitchen/dining room building. The 17 private guest rooms do not have electricity, heating, or running water. Sperry Chalet can only be reach by trails.
