At various times this beautifully restored, local Historic Landmark Antebellum mansion was the home of mayors, a Confederate major, and many friends of the Vanderbilts, and is Asheville's oldest surviving structure. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features history exhibits, restored rooms decorated with period furnishings that cover the periods of 1840 to 1900, and magnificent grounds designed by the renowned Olmsted Brothers.
