  The newly renovated, 93,000 square foot Aquarium features North Carolina’s aquatic life from the mountains to the sea. Special exhibits include a 32-foot waterfall, river otters, a recreation of the local pirate shipwreck "The Queen Anne’s Revenge," touch tanks, and a 306,000 gallon tank that features sharks and a replica of a nearby sunken German U-boat.

  One of the few remaining maritime forests on the North Carolina coast is located in this beautiful natural area that was donated to the state by the family of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. An interpretive trail is on site that is adjacent to and leading from the parking area of the North Carolina Aquarium.
