Owned by the Edenton Historical Commission, the Barker House was built for Thomas Barker and his wife, Penelope, who was a prominent figure in the Edenton Tea Party that occurred on October 25, 1774. The interior of the home is available for tours Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
