Founded in 1976, the Chowan Arts Council is "a member-supported organization that provides a forum for arts and cultural events and supports a thriving artistic community." They offer the Chowan Arts Council Museum, Chowan Arts Council Gallery Shop, Chowan Arts Council Gallery, workshops, outreach programs to schools and neighborhoods, demonstrations, and performances.
