An interpretive center of the "Other South," Mendenhall Plantation is a Quaker built plantation that was home to abolitionists who were involved in and supported the movement before the Civil War. A false bottomed wagon used to transport slaves during the days of the Underground Railroad is on display. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
