Once serving as both a former residence of Royal Governor William Tryon and the capital of the Colony of North Carolina, this majestic Georgian style mansion is filled with an outstanding collection of antiques and art. The grounds contain 14 acres of extensive gardens that range from English formal gardens, a kitchen garden, and a wilderness garden. Interpreters in period costumes conduct tours all year and an audiovisual orientation program and crafts demonstrations are offered daily.
