Known as Flanners Beach by the locals, this recreation area is open year round and features a campground with 40 sites, a picnic area with 44 tables, a swimming area, and a three mile hiking and biking trail. In 2009 the Neuse River Recreation Area will not be open until April 1st due to the removal of hazard trees.

this is a great beach to take the kids to, its on a river so there's no waves like at the ocean. the water is less than 3 feet deep for as far out as you can walk. there's lots of mosquitos and ticks so be sure to use your bug spray!
