Located in the former home of W.W. Kitchin, North Carolina's Governor from 1809 to 1813, this historical museum complex includes the Kitchin home, a tobacco barn, the Van Hook Subscription School, Dr. John H. Merritt's office, and the Woodsdale General Store. A wide variety of exhibits are on display that include a replica of Baseball Hall of Famer Enos Slaughter, a display honoring the only North Carolinean to win the Congressional Medal of Honor, and an intriguing display of over 250 dolls.
