website

The birthplace of Zebulon Baird Vance, this pioneer farmstead in the Reems Creek Valley features a five-room log house, reconstructed around original chimneys; an original 1790's slave cabin, and five log outbuildings, including a corn crib, springhouse, smokehouse, and a loom house. Furnished to evoke the period from 1795-1840, "the site explores life in early Buncombe County as seen through the lives of the Vance family and enslaved people."
