The oldest Confederate monument in North Carolina that was crafted by noted Scottish stone mason George Lauder is located in this cemetery with the monument honoring the Confederate and Union soldiers that were buried near Cross Creek in unmarked graves. Many of Fayetteville's early prominent citizens are also buried here.
