Near the intersection of Highway 281 and Interstate 94, the National Buffalo Museum focuses primarily on the history of bison in the plains. Exhibits include Plains Indian artifacts, artwork, 19th century firearms used by bison hunters, remains of prehistoric bison, a children’s room featuring wildlife of North Dakota, and a video presentation about the history of bison. A gift shop, educational programs, community events and a bison herd of about 30 head that includes White Cloud, a rare albino “White Buffalo;” and her two calves can also be enjoyed at the National Buffalo Museum.
