  • Geographical Center of North America Monument

    In January 1931, the United States Geographical Survey determined the center of North America was in Pierce County. The center is marked with a pyramid-shaped monument or cairn that is set on a heart-shaped foundation. Completed in August 1932, it was built across the highway, northwest of its present location, by W.B. Paterson and E.B. Paterson with the assistance from local Boy Scouts and other young men in the community.  map

    This 30-foot tower contains 15 bells that have been purchased at auction sales, from private parties, antique shops, and from churches. The bells are rung with a simple cable on each bell.  map
