Geographical Center of North America Monument

In January 1931, the United States Geographical Survey determined the center of North America was in Pierce County. The center is marked with a pyramid-shaped monument or cairn that is set on a heart-shaped foundation. Completed in August 1932, it was built across the highway, northwest of its present location, by W.B. Paterson and E.B.
