  • Highline Bridge (circa 1908)
    Listed as a National Civil Engineering Landmark, the 3,860 foot long, 162 foot high Highline Bridge is "one of the longest and highest single-track railroad bridges" in the United States. Vital in moving supplies and men, it was closely guarded during both World Wars to prevent sabotage.

    Rhoades Science Center is home to a Spitz 512 planetarium with a 24 foot domed ceiling and 50 reclining seats in a three-quarter arrangement. Though it is mainly used for teaching purposes for such college classes as astronomy and earth science, 85-100 shows are presented each year to college classes, visiting public schools and various community groups. A show for the general public is also offered each month.
