Active from the days of the Indian Wars until after World War II, this historic outpost was the site of the 1879 Cheyenne Outbreak and the death of Sioux Chief Crazy Horse. A museum operated by the State Historical Society and many restored or reconstructed exhibit buildings help to interpret the Fort's history. A restaurant, campground, cabins, lodge rooms, hiking trails, picnic tables, the Post Playhouse, and buffalo and longhorn herds are just some of what can be found at Fort Robinson State Park.
