Owned and operated by the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests, this 19-room house in the White Mountains was built by John Jacob Glessner in 1883. Named "The Rocks" in honor of the huge boulders found on the land, this 1,400-acre protected reserve is now a working farm with 55,000 growing Christmas trees. More than 13 buildings on the National Historic Register are found on the property. Visitors can enjoy the picnic areas, six miles of self-guided educational trails, hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing.
