Marking the spot of one of the most crucial areas for coastal vessels, the 32-acre Barnegat Lighthouse State Park includes the Barnegat Lighthouse, the second tallest lighthouse in the Untied States that once aided vessels in navigating and negotiating the treacherous shoals in the area; as well as a maritime forest trail, an interpretive center, and opportunities for fishing, birding, and picnicking.
