This is the historic home and farm of John Jay (1745-1829), co-author of the Treaty of Paris and the Federalist Papers, the President of the Continental Congress, U.S. Secretary for Foreign Affairs, first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and the second governor of New York State. Open a majority of the year, the historic house contains 12 period furnished rooms that have been restored to an 1820's appearance that can be seen by a guided tour. Specialized tours and education programs are available by appointment. The historic site contains 62 acres which includes formal gardens, woodland walks and such 19th century farm buildings as an 1820's schoolhouse and an 1830's barn.
