With over 5,000 works of art, the Academy houses one of the largest public collections of 19th and 20th century American art in the United States. These include works by Jane Freilicher, Charles Webster Hawthorne, Aaron Shikler, William Merritt Chase, Susanna Coffey, William James Whittemore, Charles Wilbert White, Frederic Edwin Church, and Henry Peters Gray.
