Located in a landmark building, the New York Historical Society is open to the general public Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on selected holiday Mondays. The New York Historical Society’s collection of more than 60,000 objects and works includes materials relating to the founding of the United States, the history of art in America, and the history of New York and its people. These include Hudson River School landscapes, John James Audubon's watercolors for The Birds of America, Tiffany lamp collections, artifacts from the American Revolution and the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and three million manuscripts, photographs, prints, maps and books.
