This second-oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes was built in 1822, and sits perched on a looming bluff that overlooks the mouth of the Genesee River. The forty-foot octagonal sandstone tower is accompanied by a two-room lighthouse keeper’s cottage and a well; visitors can tour the surroundings, climb the tower, and visit the museum located on the first floor of the keeper’s cottage that houses displays regarding the lighthouse itself, lighthouse lore, navigation, and the history of the region.
