The historic Valentine-Varian House is a four-level fieldstone farmhouse that was the site of six skirmishes between American soldiers and British forces, who occupied the house for most of the Revolutionary War. The restored house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was opened in 1968 to the public as the Museum of Bronx History.
