Located along the banks of the Cuyahoga River, the 33,000 acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park contains rugged backcountry hiking trails, the historic 60-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, a graded biking and hiking trail, and the Ritchie Ledges, perfect for hiking. Activities offered include ranger-guided programs, concerts, scenic train rides, sightseeing at the historical sites, picnicking, bird watching, golfing, fishing, and winter sports. The winding Cuyahoga - the "crooked river" as named by American Indians - gives way to deep forests, rolling hills, and open farmlands. The park is a refuge for flora and fauna, gives a sense of times past, and provides recreation and solitude for Ohio's residents and visitors.
