Janene Spurgeon
My name is Janene Spurgeon and I was trying to find out some information about the McAlester Home. My Mom was born in that house in 1937. Her parents worked for the McAlester's. My Grand-Dad was a caretaker of the lawn & other things that needed to be done. My Grand-Mother was a cook & house keeper. I understand from my Mom during my growing up years that there were tales that it was haunted. She had also said that at one time it was a museum, but the last she knew of was that a family lived there. I have seen it from the outside & it looks like a lovely home. I guess what I am trying to find out is, if there was any documentation of when my Grand-parents lived there and possibly a record of my Mom's birth. I have never seen my Mom's birth certificant. My Mom passed away in 1999 & is buried outside of McAlester near the Coal Creek exit off the highway. My Grand-Parents are buried there also. Their last name was Nelson. Just curious in finding out if there happens to be any record of their brief life there. Any info would be very much appreciated.
