Situated within the Oregon Coast Range, the over 630,000-acre Siuslaw National Forest is "a very diverse and productive region" that extends from Tillamook to Coos Bay, along the central Oregon coast and into the Coast Range Mountains. Four major rivers, the Nestucca, Alsea, Siuslaw and Umpqua, flow out of the Siuslaw National Forest and into the Pacific Ocean. The Siuslaw National Forest contains two distinct vegetation zones, Sitka spruce and western hemlock.
