The official historical organization of Butler County, the Butler County Historical Society was founded in 1927, to preserve local history. The Society also owns and operates four historic sites, the Butler County Heritage Center, Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead, Little Red School House, and the Lowrie/Shaw House.
