The Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site brings to life the largest engagement of the Revolutionary War, which was fought between the Continental Army led by General George Washington and General William Howe's British forces on September 11, 1777. The park features a visitor center with a museum and a gift shop, Washington's headquarters at the Benjamin Ring House, and the home of Gideon and Sarah Gilpin and their six children. The houses are accessible to groups and individuals by guided tour only.
