The oldest building in the Lukens National Historic District, Brandywine Mansion was the former home of Rebecca Lukens. She was the United States' first woman industrialist who actively ran the Brandywine Iron Works & Nail Factory, the oldest, continuously operated steel mill in North America which is now known as Lukens Steel Company.
