Built by J. Bancroft Swayne, founder of the area's mushroom farming industry in the late 19th century, this Queen Anne-style home features elements of the Classical Revival period. The home includes Avondale stone walls, slate and tin roofs, lead glass windows and dormers, a wrap-around porch, enclosed sun porches, Tuscan columns, high ceilings, hardwood floors, crown molding and original wallpaper. All guest rooms are tastefully decorated with period antiques and fixtures.
