The Ligonier Valley Historical Society's mission is to "discover, collect and preserve any material which will help to establish or illustrate the exploration, settlement, development and general history of the Ligonier Valley area." The Society maintains the Compass Inn Museum, a documents room, small local history library and several local abandoned cemeteries, sponsors Living History Weekends at the Compass Inn, preserves Laurel Hill Iron Furnace in New Florence, and much more.
