Originally built as a summer house for Benjamin Chew, the Colonial Chief Justice of Pennsylvania; whose family maintained it for over 200 years, Cliveden is a National Historic Landmark that was the scene of the Battle of Germantown on October 4, 1777. The home sits on six beautifully landscaped acres and is filled with original furnishings and decorative arts. Owned by the National Trust, Cliveden is open to the public for tours from April through December.
