Purchased in 1884, Walt Whitman resided at this six-room, Greek-revival style home until his death in 1892. A New Jersey State Historic Site and National Historic Landmark, this was the only home ever owned by Walt Whitman. Whitman's original letters, personal belongings, the bed in which he died, a collection of rare 19th-century photographs, including the earliest known image of Whitman, an 1848 daguerreotype; and the death notice that was nailed to the front door have all been preserved.
