Situated in the recreated Monongahela Bastion, Fort Pitt Museum memorializes the importance of the Forks of the Ohio during the Great War for Empire in which the British, French, Colonist and Native Americans vied for control of North America. One of 26 historic sites and museums on the Pennsylvania Trail of History, Fort Pitt Museum primarily focuses on the French and Indian War, American Revolution, military fortifications established on the site, cultures that influenced the development of the region, and the importance of such early commerce as the fur trade. Visitors can experience this through dioramas, exhibits, tours, educational programs, and publications.
