I was looking forward to a pleasurable afternoon at this establishment. The location looked picturesque, and the menu online looked delicious. However, I left wishing I had chosen somewhere else to dine with friends. Although the scenery was gorgeous as was the building itself, everything else left much to be desired. The service was horrible - the waitstaff was extremely slow and stood around in a large group the entire time. I would have understood the slow service if there had been a crowd, but there were very few people. There was no reason that our food needed to take an hour to arrive - and only after we reminded the server of our order. We were offered our appetizer complimentary after talking to the manager at the end of the meal, and she was relatively courteous. Overall though, it was an evening lacking in service and hospitality, and I wish we had picked another place to eat and drink.

About two weeks ago, I visited John Wright restaurant for lunch. My friend and I went early to avoid a crowd. We arrived and asked our waitress about the cocktail options. Aside from not knowing if they had a cocktail menu, she also told us that they drinks were $6.50, yet when we got our bill, they were more. My friend and I were not even carded (we are 22). Additionally, we sat for 30 minutes after finishing our drinks and meal waiting for our check. Once she finally saw us, she hurried over and apologized, and then attempted to woo us with comments in order to increase her already significantly deflated tip.
I chalked this experience up to a random bad day and thought I'd give it another shot. I visited the restaurant again today, only to encounter service that was even worse than the first time. Friends and I arrived for Happy Hour, and sat outside. We were later told that Happy Hour doesn't count outside (not sure how we were supposed to know this- it was not mentioned on any signs and why would we sit at the bar inside when it's a gorgeous day outside)?, but that they would let it slide. We all ordered a drink and also ordered nachos. After receiving our drinks in a timely manner, we waited...and waited...and waited to get our nachos. Finally 45 minutes later, my friend approached our waitress who had not only forgotten to put the order in, but also had not come to check on us. (The restaurant was not crowded at all during this time). Once we got the nachos (roughly an hour later from when we ordered them), the portion size was small and the food was cold. When we finally received our check, all of our drinks were charged at full price. Our waitress never came back for the check, so after waiting another 15 minutes we asked to speak to a manager. She was relatively courteous and didn't charge us for the nachos and fixed our drink prices, however I will NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's such a shame that the location is great, yet the staff is terrible. On both occasions, there were at least 6-8 waiters/waitresses huddled in a group...not exactly what I would consider high customer service.

My wife and I went there for the Sunday brunch and waiter/waitress service was poor. The omelet table was manned by one chef. I had two people in front of me. It took about ten minutes or more for each omelet to be mad. I was not going to stand there for twenty minutes and then another ten minutes for my omelet to be made. On the internet the place is very appealing. In reality it was a poor choice to travel fifty miles plus from Maryland
