A friend & I decided to try out Constantino's on Federal Hill because the weather was so beautiful and we'd heard they had a Frank Sinatra impersonator. We arrived at the plaza and told the host we'd like a table for two. We were brought to a lovely table near planted flowers and the water fountain. A busboy brought us water and complimentary bread basket/olive oil. I ordered a glass of Shiraz and we ordered their calamari. Then the trouble began and it all went downhill from there. The host hurried over and told us that he didn't know we were just ordering appetizers, that usually people like us sit "over there" pointing to an empty section. However, he said, he wasn't going to ask us to move. I wish he would have, because from there on out, we were harrassed by the waitstaff and busboys, who came by literally every 5 minutes to ask us if we were done yet (even though our plate was clearly not empty). Mind you, although the restaurant was busy, there were still several open seats near us and we weren't taking up the only two-top left. After the tenth time within roughly 1/2 hour of being interrupted by the staff to see if they clear our plate, we finally relented. The plate was whisked away and within literally seconds our check was on the table. Now, we could easily have ordered more wine, another appetizer or perhaps dessert and coffee, but the rudeness of the entire staff we dealt with made us so uncomfortable. We will never return and will make sure our colleagues are aware of how poorly Constantino's treats its customers.
